Economy puts Springfield among top places to live

Posted online
Howell, Mich.-based Relocate America has named Springfield as one of America’s Top 100 Places to Live in 2006 for the city’s “wonderful quality of life with its stable business climate.”

Nominations were accepted online throughout 2005. Relocate America’s editorial team reviewed each nomination, along with cities’ statistics in education, employment, economy, crime, parks, recreation and housing. The cities are ranked alphabetically.

Springfield was chosen for its healthy economy supported by health care, manufacturing and small business, according to RelocateAmerica.com. The city’s outdoor experiences, mild climate, friendly people, culture, active arts community, low cost of living and family-oriented atmosphere also were cited as reasons for the recognition.

Other top regioinal cities were Columbia, Fayetteville, Ark., Wichita, Kan., and Edmond, Okla.
