A Sept. 4-9 survey of 31 economists found more believe 2018 is the year the next recession would hit than any other, according to Bloomberg Business.
In all, 11 economists surveyed predicted 2018 would be the year of the next U.S. economic downturn. Seven said it would be 2020 before the current recovery would falter and six said 2017 is when the next recession would gain a foothold on the economy.
Assuming the 2018 prediction is correct, that would put the current recovery at nine years long. That would be shy of the longest recovery on record, which occurred between 1991 and 2001.
