EBay laying off 2,400, 7% of workforce

Amid weak holiday sales and sluggish revenue expectations for the current quarter, online retailer eBay warned on Wednesday that it plans to reduce its global workforce by 2,400 jobs, or 7 percent, in the first quarter this year.

According to USA Today, the comapny also plans to explore options, such as a sale or IPO, for its eBay Enterprise, which advises retailers on e-commerce.

Its plan to spin off its payments arm, PayPal, is expected to close in the second half of the year.
