Earth City employer to lay off 200

Days after closing on its acquisition of Forest Laboratories Inc., Actavis has announced to its employees a plan to close its Earth City facilities, a decision that will impact nearly 200 employees.

The layoffs in the St. Louis area are expected by June 2015, when the facilities would close, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

Drug maker Actavis bought rival Forest Laboratories Inc. in a deal valued at $28 billion. Dublin, Ireland-based Actavis (NYSE: ACT) closed the deal on July 1.
