Dunkin’ Donuts returning to Springfield

Posted online
Cory Roebuck closed this morning on the purchase of the former Back Yard Burgers property at 4020 S. Campbell Ave., where he plans to open a Dunkin’ Donuts store before Christmas.

Roebuck is spending up to $200,000 on exterior and interior renovations to the building, and Ross Murray of R.B. Murray Co. is working with the franchisee to identify two other Queen City locations. Both Roebuck and Murray declined to disclose the sales price.

“I personally am a huge fan of Dunkin’ Donuts. It has great brand loyalty and is a fabulous brand with a great product,” the Branson resident said. “In fact, there are a couple of Facebook pages dedicated to bringing a Dunkin’ Donuts to Springfield.”

Murray said the property had been listed for about six months, and he’s been in contact with Roebuck to identify his first franchise site for about eight months.

According to Springfield Business Journal archives, Dunkin’ Donuts was seeking a franchisee in 2011 willing to open five locations in the Springfield area. The company had a presence in the Queen City in the 1980s, but those franchise agreements were not renewed.

Roebuck declined to disclose franchise details, but said an upfront fee and royalties are required. Roebuck also had to commit to opening three stores in Springfield by 2019.
