Dunkin' Donuts changes its name

Dunkin' Donuts is dropping the latter half of its name in a branding change.

The company's new name is just Dunkin', and it will officially become effective in January.

During the first of the year, the company plans to rebrand its napkins, boxes and signs at U.S. stores. The change eventually will roll out to its global stores, as well.

The chain operates 12,500 restaurants around the world.
