Duck Creek announced its new regional office Sept. 12 and plans to officially open it Oct. 1, Roller said.
The new office will staff people in sales, services and product development, Roller said. Duck Creek’s Bolivar office will continue to focus on product development, and its Connecticut office will remain committed to sales.
The opportunity to move into the Columbia market presented itself when Duck Creek took note of about 3,000 displaced workers there who lost jobs after the city’s Policy Management Systems Corp. merged with another firm in 2000.
“There’s a large pool of experienced people in the industry that we’re in,” Roller said. “When we need a person who has a strong background in our field, (Columbia) is probably the best place in the country to find them.”
Roller said the number of employees at the South Carolina office is contingent upon its level of success. Two staff members are there now, including Lee Fogle, who was recently hired as Duck Creek’s senior vice president of field operations.
G. Larry Wilson will serve as the company’s new board chairman and will have office space in Columbia, as well. Wilson is the former president, CEO and board chairman of Policy Management Systems.
