Drury’s Aug. 12 commencement moves to Central High

Posted online
Tomorrow’s commencement ceremony for nearly 200 Drury graduates will be at Central High School because of problems with the cooling system at the university’s Findlay Student Center.

According to a university news release, Drury’s College of Graduate and Continuing Studies will present 102 undergraduate and 62 graduate degrees during the 10 a.m. ceremony. The school will also award 32 bachelor’s degrees.

Two Drury alumni who are moving to Atlanta this fall will be presenting the commencement address: Shaun Bass, former unit director for the Boys & Girls Club in Springfield, and Lauren Holtkamp Bass, former Drury assistant for alumni relations and Drury women’s basketball player. Both earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the university.

Tickets for the ceremony, which is to be held in Central’s recently renovated auditorium, are required; a reception preceding the ceremony will be held in Central’s new commons area.
