Drury SIFE competes in finals for national title

Posted online
Drury University’s Students in Free Enterprise team is competing this afternoon in the finals of the 2007 SIFE USA National Exposition in Dallas.

Drury and three other teams are presenting summaries of their work in the last year to judges, who will rate them on creativity, innovation and effectiveness in implementing projects that spread the principles of free enterprise.

Along with the Drury team, fellow finalists are Heritage University from Washington state, the University of Arizona and La Sierra University from California.

A national winner will be announced at 6 p.m. The winning team will move on to represent the United States at SIFE World Cup 2007 in October in New York City.

Drury SIFE has been named national champions three times and World Cup champions twice. The team took home a regional championship in Minneapolis in April, qualifying it for nationals.

In the past year, the 44-member team has completed more than 30 projects, including an expansion of DSIFE, a student-run business incubator; Laredo, a program where students taught at a Texas middle school about the basics of business; and Domicile Mpumi, which had team members travel to Africa to teach an African village how to construct water filtration systems.[[In-content Ad]]
