Drury University’s current enrollment of 5,485 students is a spring semester record, the school announced Wednesday.
The total comprises the traditional day school, adult evening and online courses and graduate classes, according to a Drury news release.
Drury’s traditional undergraduate day school has 1,488 students enrolled, which is the fifth-highest spring day-school enrollment for the university. Enrollment for other student groups, however, set records this spring. Drury’s College of Graduate and Continuing Studies has 3,417 undergraduate students, and a record for graduate students, with 580 enrolled, the release said.
The enrollment records reflect a nationwide trend, according to Brian Holloway, who began working as dean of the College of Graduate and Continuing Studies on Feb. 15.
“As we continue to remove barriers to education with more online offerings, we see more people, especially adults, taking that first step up the ladder of higher education,” Holloway said in the release. “My intention is to help Drury continue its growth with more online and extended offerings.”
