Drury’s Cabool operations had been located at Cabool High School for 18 years. The new facility – the former Shoe Factory at 801 Walnut St. – has more space and allows the university to offer daytime classes in Cabool for the first time.
Building owners Dennis Hunter and R.W. Stringer renovated the facility, which now has seven classrooms, a science lab, a computer lab, a conference room and office space. Campus furnishings and equipment were purchased with community contributions that included a lead gift of $50,000 over three years from Cabool State Bank.
Drury will formally dedicate the new campus 4–7 p.m. July 23.
Scheduled speakers include interim Drury President Todd Parnell and Missouri Rep. Don Wells, who represents the city. Two Cabool campus graduates also will make presentations – Lori Tack, who runs four businesses in nearby Mountain View, and Jacky Traw, the general services manager for the state highway department.
Refreshments will be served, and guests will be able to tour the facility.
The dedication marks completion of the first phase of renovation. The school is working to raise funds for a second phase that could add an auditorium.
