Retired local banker Ben A. Parnell Jr. and Jerry B. Poe, a financial analyst, consultant and professor, will be inducted into the Breech School of Business Administration Hall of Fame on the campus of Drury University during a Feb. 18 ceremony.

Parnell attended Drury from 1935 to 1937 before getting a bachelor's degree in economics and business administration from Louisiana State University in 1939.

After five years of service in the U.S. Navy, Parnell returned to southwest Missouri, where he helped establish Peoples Bank of Branson, now Ozark Mountain Bank.

He also has been president, chairman of the board or director of Bank of Taney County, Citizens State Bank, Bank of Kimberling City, Liberty Bank, Springfield Trust Co. and The Bank. In 1974 he served as president of the Missouri Bankers Association.

Poe graduated from Drury in 1953 with a bachelor's degree in economics.

After a brief stint on the faculty of Boston University, he returned to teach at Drury, where he would eventually become director of the Breech School, serving from 1968 to 1974.

In 1974 he was appointed chairman of the finance department at Arizona State University, where he remains.

Poe has consulted with Trans World Airlines, the U.S. Small Business Administration and Zenith Corp., among others.

He also is the co-author of three business textbooks.
