Brian Holloway is joining Drury University next month as dean of the school's College of Graduate and Continuing Studies.
Holloway is dean of graduate studies at Mountain State University in Beckley, W.Va., according to a Drury news release. He previously served as associate vice president for arts and sciences, where he helped develop a graduate integrated studies program.
Holloway has bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Missouri and a Ph.D. in English literature from the University of Illinois. Though born in New York, Holloway spent his teenage and college years in Missouri.
"I have always understood myself to be a Midwesterner, both culturally and spiritually," Holloway said in the release. "I consider it a privilege to be here in this time and this place."
Holloway replaces Parris Watts, who left in spring 2009 to serve at Graceland University in Iowa. Dan Beach, who had been serving as interim dean, is retiring.
"Dan has served Drury University well as a faculty member and administrator - even coming out or delaying retirement to fill a variety of essential university roles with the utmost professionalism," Charles Taylor, vice president for academic affairs, said in the release.[[In-content Ad]]
