Drury lands three classic Rock acts

Posted online
Classic rock performers REO Speedwagon, Styx and Ted Nugent have scheduled a May 15 performance at Drury University's O'Reilly Family Event Center.

"This will be our biggest concert to date in terms of number of bands and number of fans,” said Matt Miller, O’Reilly Family Event Center director of event services, in a news release. “I just wish we had more seats because I know Springfield will turn out in droves for this show.”

The $12 million, 3,100-seat event center opened in October 2010. For concerts at the center, including the Pointer Sisters, Chicago, the Ozark Mountain Daredevils and Kelly Clarkson, officials also have utilized floor space for fans.

Local concert promoters Dwight Glenn Productions and GMS Group teamed with Mid-West Family Broadcasting to bring the Midwest Rock ‘n Roll Express tour to Springfield, according to the release.

“They hadn’t planned on adding any more dates but we were persistent," owner Dwight Glenn said in the release. “This is the smallest city and smallest venue on their tour, and it will be a concert not to be missed.”

Tickets, which will go on sale April 6 at DruryTickets.com, will range from $44 to $79.
