Drury lands The Guess Who

Posted online
Canadian rock band The Guess Who has scheduled an Oct. 6 performance at Drury University's O'Reilly Family Event Center.

The band - which gained international fame during the 1960s and '70s with songs such as "American Woman" and "These Eyes" - is expected to play to a smaller crowd of about 2,000, according to a news release. Drury's $12 million center, which opened in October 2010, has 3,100 seats.

The concert is being held in conjunction with the Panther Run fundraiser for Care to Learn - $1 from every ticket sold will benefit the Springfield nonprofit. During the concert, a collection area also will be set up for Care to Learn inside the O'Reilly center.

Tickets for the event - which also will feature Lyal Strickland and Speakeasy - start at $24. They are available at the O'Reilly center box office, the release said.
