Drury Hotels Co. has donated $25,000 to Missouri State University's hospitality and restaurant administration department in support of the department's growth initiatives.
“For many years, the Drury Hotels Co. has hired Missouri State hospitality students to manage their properties,” said Melissa Dallas, professor and head of the hospitality department, in the release. “They are an outstanding hotel company whose core values are strikingly similar to ours.”
Approximately 240 students are enrolled in the hospitality administration major, and more than 2,000 majors have graduated from the department since its 1983 inception. MSU's hospitality and restaurant administration department is the only program in Missouri accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration, the release said.
“We recognize the importance of the work being done by (the) department, and we are pleased to be able to provide our support," Drury Hotels President and CEO Chuck Drury said in the release.
St. Louis-based Drury Hotels manages more than 130 hotels in a 20-state area, consisting of Drury Inn & Suites, Drury Inn, Drury Suites, Drury Plaza Hotel and Pear Tree Inn.
In Springfield, the hotel company operates a Drury Inn & Suites at 2715 N. Glenstone Ave.[[In-content Ad]]
