Drury University will dedicate two new fraternity houses June 16.
According to a press release from Drury, the new Kappa Alpha house at Robberson and Lynn, 1340 N. Robberson Ave., and the new Sigma Nu house at Jefferson and Calhoun, 1225 N. Jefferson Ave., will both be dedicated within a two-hour span.
The two houses are located in the same complex as Drury's new Lambda Chi Alpha house, which was dedicated May 12.
The three houses were designed by architect John Oke-Thomas to complement each other as well as the surrounding Midtown neighborhood. Funding for the $5 million project is shared among the fraternities and Drury.
This cooperative approach allowed each house to develop its own character while retaining high standards of construction; the houses include materials such as stone, tile and hardwood trim not usually found in student residences, according to the press release.
Nearly 1,500 alumni and friends have been invited to the two events, which are part of the annual Drury Alumni Reunion activities (June 14-17).
Alumni will be traveling to Springfield from locations throughout the United States to attend the events.
