Drury University recorded a 9.4% increase in the number of alumni gifts in the 2018-19 fiscal year.
Gifts and commitments for the year exceeded $16.5 million, according to a news release. Many of the contributions support the ongoing campus master plan and the school’s new Your Drury Fusion curriculum.
“This is an incredible total for a small, private university like Drury. Our alumni and friends are continuing to build on our momentum by investing in the vision we’ve cast together as the Drury family,” Drury President Tim Cloyd said in the release.
University officials announced a 25-year master plan in 2017. The plan includes changes to the school’s streets and landscaping, a new student life center and clearly defined campus edges, among other changes at an undisclosed cost. According to past Springfield Business Journal reporting, the first of the upgrades were the purchase of a 1.5-acre corner lot at Benton Avenue and Chestnut Expressway for a new entryway and the planned construction on the new location of Breech School of Business Administration.
The Fusion program, which begins in August, requires each student to have a faculty and staff adviser, success coach and career planning and development mentor, according to past SBJ reporting. Incoming freshmen will graduate with a combination of a major, certificate and one additional major, minor or certificate.
Local officials aim to involve more businesses for job training.
