Dreyer’s to ditch ‘derogatory’ Eskimo Pie name

Ice cream company Dreyer’s announced it would drop the “derogatory” Eskimo Pie brand name.

“We have been reviewing our Eskimo Pie business for some time and will be changing the brand name and marketing,” said Elizabell Marquez, a spokesperson for the company. “We are committed to being a part of the solution on racial equality, and recognize the term is derogatory.”

The brand name has been used for 99 years.
