DraftKings, FanDuel allowed to operate in New York, for now

Fantasy sports websites FanDuel and DraftKings have been temporarily been given permission to operate in New York.

On Friday, a New York judge granted state attorney general’s injunction barring sites from operating in the state. Hours later, an appeals court judge allowed the companies to keep operating until the legality of their games can be further considered.

In an emergency hearing, DraftKings' lawyers stated the company would be harmed if forced to shut down even temporarily.

Next month, a panel of judges will decide if the the injunction will stay in place.
