Jones is a family medicine physician with Steeplechase Family Physicians, an affiliate of CoxHealth. His practice allows him to “provide comprehensive health care from newborns to geriatrics,” he said. “I have a wonderful practice that I have built for the past four and a half years.”
With the exception of four years spent in Kansas City for medical school, Jones has lived his entire life in Springfield, and he feels it is his duty to give back.
“I feel it is very important to give back to the community that has given me so much,” Jones said. “I am very dedicated to my work and strive to have a positive impact on my patients as well as those around me. I have always been amazed how even the smallest of contacts can have an enormous impact on people.”
A personal family experience influenced Jones to look at medicine the way he does today.
“I would say the death of my mother from a breast cancer complication was a turning point in my career in medicine,” Jones said. “Her death completely changed my perspective on the delivery of health care and also in dealing with patients who are terminal.”
Jones graduated in 1998 with a 4.0 grade point average from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.
During his residency at Cox Family Residency in Springfield, Jones was elected chief resident. In his third year, he was named the Cecil Auner Resident of the Year.
Jones said he plans to continue to grow his practice and to be involved in such organizations as the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks, where he serves on the board of directors. He also serves as a medical director for Community Hospices of America, and he leads a Sunday school class at Wesley United Methodist Church.
