Posted online

Around 25 companies are expected to be in Dallas County tomorrow for a multi-industry hiring event at Buffalo High School.

The fourth-annual rural outreach event is scheduled for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the high school’s field house, 500 W. Main St. Those in the manufacturing, health care and food service industries will be among employers expected to be in attendance.

The event is organized by the Missouri Job Center in conjunction with the Buffalo Area Chamber of Commerce and the Dallas County R-1 School District.

The job center’s mobile unit will be on-site to assist attendees with online applications and resumes, said Katherine Trombetta, business services specialist with the organization. Local high school students, as well as those attending Dallas County Vocational Tech, will get the opportunity to visit with employers, according to a news release.

According to the job center’s Cynthia Collins, companies will be attending the event from in and around Buffalo, as well as Springfield, Bolivar, Strafford and Fair Play.

Although an exact number of jobs being sought by participants at tomorrow's event was not able to be provided from the job center, Trombetta said “hundreds” of positions will be available among the companies in attendance.

The participating companies, according to a list provided by the Missouri Job Center, are:
• Advantage Home Care;
• American Products LLC;
• Arc of the Ozarks;
• Citizens Memorial Healthcare;
• CNH Industrial Reman;

Trombetta said a handful of other companies are expected to sign up to participate today.

According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data, Dallas County’s unemployment rate for January 2019 was 4.4 percent. The BLS reported the statewide unemployment rate in January at 3.2 percent – the same percentage for the Springfield metropolitan statistical area. The local MSA comprises Greene, Christian, Dallas, Polk and Webster counties.
