Representatives of myriad industries, such as banking, education, health care, manufacturing, retail and technology, plan to be on-site at the Missouri Job Center tomorrow and in hiring mode for a job fair.
The April 30 hiring event will be at the Job Center’s new location at 1660 N. Campbell Ave., according to a news release. Over two dozen employers are expected to participate in the event. The Job Center moved in October to a building the city of Springfield purchased last summer that formerly was used as offices for Convoy of Hope, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
“We are excited to host our first big hiring event at our new location near historic Commercial Street,” said Ericka Schmeeckle, assistant director for the city of Springfield’s Department of Workforce and Economic Vitality, in the release. “We’ve had a great response from a wide variety of employers, and we are anxious to welcome job seekers from across the Ozark region.”

Job Center officials recommend job seekers take copies of their resume and be prepared for possible on-site interviews. Katherine Proctor, spokesperson for the Missouri Job Center, said via email that she is uncertain of the total number of jobs employers will have available to fill at the event.
Free parking is available off Campbell Street in front of the Job Center.
