Los Angeles Police detained 54 people Thursday night, including Wal-Mart workers, union representatives and clergy members, who were demanding better pay and conditions from Wal-Mart.
The protesters sat in the street outside a Wal-Mart store and refused to move, prompting oficers to declare an unlawful assembly, according to The Guardian.
The demonstration was the latest in a year-long series of mostly small, vocal protests at Wal-Mart stores around the country.
