A downtown Springfield store owner has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly selling counterfeit Nike shoes and Major League Baseball caps.
Edgar Hagens, 55, of Springfield, was charged Nov. 6 in a two-count indictment connected to his 413 N. Boonville Ave. store, Rock's Dress Out Fashions, according to a news release from the office of the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Missouri.
The indictment alleges Hagens sold counterfeit Nike shoes on Aug. 20 and counterfeit MLB caps Aug. 1-25.
The indictment contains a forfeiture allegation that would require Hagens to forfeit to the government property used to commit the alleged crimes, including 14 counterfeit MLB caps - some of which were purchased on Aug. 1 and seized on Aug. 25 by federal agents - and a pair of counterfeit Nike shoes purchased by federal agents on Aug. 20, according to the release.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Carney and was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
