A downtown mural is moving, but it's not going far.
The mural, called “Make Something Where You Are," was removed yesterday from the Newberry Building on Park Central Square, according to a news release from Better Block SGF. It's scheduled to be relocated to The Holler, a music venue in the works off the square, later this summer.
Part of Better Block SGF's mission is to work with partners to install movable public art.
"The move demonstrates exactly why we launched this program," Better Block SGF Executive Director Rachael Walsh said in the release. "Public art can help tell the story of a place, generate community interest and create momentum around transformational projects. We're excited to see this mural continue serving Springfield in a new way."
The release indicates the Newberry Building has new ownership who plan to use the property.
Greene County assessor records show the Newberry Building has been owned by Newberry Complex LLC since August 2025. That LLC was registered with the Missouri secretary of state's office in July 2025 by Kevin Willis.
