Downtown developer to convert paintball site into lofts

Posted online
Developer Craig Wagoner is renovating a former furniture store and warehouse into 20 center-city condominium lofts he hopes to start selling next month after a model unit is complete.

The Lofts at Jordan Creek will occupy the second and third floors of the former Springfield Furniture Co. complex at Chestnut Expressway and National Avenue. Lofts with one, two and three bedrooms will range in size from 900 to 2,800 square feet, said Wagoner, who is with Brentwood Management.

The first floor of the north building will be converted into retail, office or warehouse space, Wagoner said, and a smaller building to the south will be renovated at a later time for the redevelopment project’s second phase.

Butler, Rosenbury and Partners is the architect, and Wagoner is acting as the contractor.

Wagoner bought the building from Scott Tillman, another downtown developer, earlier this year for an undisclosed amount. Springfield Paintball most recently used the complex for paintball games.

The lofts should be finished in late 2007 or early 2008, Wagoner said.

See SBJ’s Nov. 20 issue for more about the Lofts at Jordan Creek and Wagoner’s other downtown renovation projects.
