‘Downton Abbey’ starts final season with nearly 10M viewers

The sixth and final season of “Downton Abbey” started off strong on Sunday night, with a total of 9.9 million viewers tuning in for the season premiere.

However, that was less than last year's season premiere, which garnered 10.1 million viewers, and the debut of the fourth season, which brought in a record for the series at 10.2 million viewers.

“Downton Abbey” reportedly is the most-viewed drama in PBS’s 45-year history.
