The Dow rose 434.9 points to land as high as 25,014.86.
The S&P 500 gained 1.56 percent, and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 2.2 percent to 7,183.08.
CNBC cited stock jumps from Boeing and Apple, as well as the Federal Reserve's decision to keep interest rates unchanged.
