The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed above 40,000 on Friday for the first time in its 139-year history.
The closure benchmark came after the blue-chip index crossed 40,000 on Thursday before ending the day lower.
The Dow closed up 134 points, or 0.3%, on Friday at 40,003.59.
