The U.S. Department of Transportation proposed a rule Wednesday that would increase travelers’ protections when flights are canceled or delayed.
Under the rule, passengers would be entitled to refunds for schedule changes that affect departure and arrival times by three hours or more for a domestic flight and six hours or more for an international flight.
Changes to airports, number of connections and type of aircraft flown can also result in a refund.
