A donor has pledged $1.5 million to aid New Covenant Academy’s expansion efforts.
The funding - which comes from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous - would fund the fourth project of Phase I. It would add six elementary classrooms planned to open by the 2016-17 academic year, according to a news release.
The donation was announced during New Covenant’s Oct. 22 annual fundraising banquet at University Plaza. Some 640 people attended the event, which had a keynote address by former San Francisco Giants pitcher Dave Dravecky.
The private Christian school, 3304 S. Cox Road, launched a silent capital campaign in June 2014 and opened up donations during its 2014 fundraising banquet last October. The school has since raised over $4 million in pledges and donations, according to the release.
New Covenant broke ground on the expansion projects
in June. It completed an expanded parking and drop-off lane project in August, a new playground this month and a baseball field is under construction.
The school also is raising money for a second gymnasium, which would alleviate overcrowding, according to the release.
