The city’s newest Domino’s restaurant is slinging pies on South Campbell Avenue.
Franchisee Art Hurteau said he and business partner Marty Prather of A&M Pizza Inc. opened the 4021 S. Campbell Ave. store May 17 at the site of a former Simmons Bank branch. The bank location, which shuttered in 2020, was demolished last year, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
Hurteau said A&M Pizza invested roughly $2 million, including land, for the 2,882-square-foot free-standing restaurant. Ross Construction LLC was general contractor for the project designed by Burns Architecture, he said.
The new eatery replaces A&M Pizza’s nearby Domino’s at 230 E. Republic Road. Hurteau said unlike the older building, the South Campbell shop has a pickup window for to-go orders. It also has more space for parking and higher visibility, he added.
“It provides better customer service and capacity through easier access for customers,” he said via email.
Hurteau said General Manager Hannah Frey leads a staff of 50 at the new restaurant.
A&M Pizza, founded in 1981 by Hurteau and Prather, operates multiple franchise locations of Domino’s Pizza Inc. (NYSE: DPZ). Hurteau said the franchisees own 34 stores in southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas. Three additional Arkansas stores in Centerton, Pea Ridge and Rogers are expected to open before year’s end, he said.
The first southwest Missouri location of EarthWise Pet, a national chain of pet supply stores, opened; Grey Oak Investments LLC relocated; and Hot Bowl by Everyday Thai LLC got its start.
