Dollar General announced yesterday plans to open 900 new stores in 2018 for the second year in a row.
"Our first priority remains investing in new stores where we continue to see great returns," Chief Financial Officer John Garratt said in a call with investors.
Currently, Dollar General has more than 14,000 stores in 44 states. That's up 35 percent from five years ago.
