Dollar General reported a jump in net income and revenue for its fiscal first quarter ended May 3.
Earnings came to $385 million, or $1.48 per share, compared with $364.9 million, or $1.36 per share, a year earlier. Analysts expected share earnings of $1.39.
Sales climbed 8.3% to $6.1 billion, and same-store sales were up 3.8%.
