Part I of the Missouri version of the nationwide series, “Remaking American Medicine,” features Landholt’s discussion of electronic medical records; Landholt says they can improve health care for businesses and patients.
Benefits of electronic records, Landholt says, include more patient participation in their own health care, as their records are displayed in exam rooms, and more efficient at-home care, as patients can gather the information needed to continue their treatment themselves.
The improved efficiency leads to less time spent filing and accessing records and more time with patients, Landholt says.
The four-part series tells the stories of individuals and institutions struggling to address the significant problems plaguing the health care system. The next episode of the series will air 8–9 p.m. April 20 in Springfield.
