DNR holds local hearing on weatherization program

Posted online
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will hold a public hearing in Springfield this week to review the state’s low-income housing weatherization plan.

The hearing will be 10:30–11 a.m. Friday at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center, 4600 S. Chrisman.

Funds for the weatherization program are provided by the U.S. Department of Energy an administered by DNR’s Energy Center. The program supports energy-efficient housing and long-term reduction in utility bills, focusing on the elderly, physically disadvantaged and families with children, according to a news release.

The program’s annual application is available for review at www.dnr.mo.gov/energy/weatherization/wx.htm.

Written comments can be submitted by Friday to Joe Gassner at the Energy Center, PO Box 176, Jefferson City, MO 65102. Oral and written comments also can be presented at the hearing.

After public input is taken, the DNR will finalize the application and submit it to the federal Energy Department.
