DiVentures relocates to newly constructed building

Posted online
DiVentures Scuba and Swim Center yesterday relocated to its newly finished 5225 S. Campbell Ave. site two block north of its previous location and roughly three times the size.

The 11,800-square-foot building, which cost roughly $3.5 million to complete, features a 50-foot heated pool that ranges in depth from 3.5 feet to 14 feet, family locker rooms, multiple class rooms and a patio for summer events.

Dean Hollis, co-owner of Omaha Neb.-based DiVentures, said the Springfield location employs 12 and offers year-round swim instruction for all ages above six, scuba certification, equipment sales, service rentals and travel to scuba destinations.

On Jan. 7, 2011, Hollis and Mark Roberts, the other co-owner of DiVentures, purchased the 32-year-old Aquasports Inc. at 5601 S. Campbell Ave., Ste. 101, from Don and Vickie Peterson for an undisclosed amount. Don Peterson now serves as lead instructor for the Springfield location of DiVentures, but Vickie Peterson is no longer involved with the company.

Roberts said that he and Hollis purchased the company with the intention of expanding their business to a new facility.

The complex was built by Nabholz Construction Services. H Design Group LLC served as the architect, while engineering work was done by CJW Transportation Consultants LLC, civil; Mettemeyer Engineering LLC, structural; and Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins Inc., mechanical electrical and plumbing, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

The Springfield site is the second location for DiVentures, with the other located in Omaha. Hollis and Roberts said they also are looking to expand into other areas.[[In-content Ad]]
