State lawmaker Brian Seitz, who represents District 156 in the Missouri House of Representatives, has launched a reelection bid for what would be his final term in the chamber.
Rep. Seitz, R-Branson, will run as the incumbent in the Aug. 4, 2026, primary election, he announced in a news release. Seitz was first elected to the House in 2020, and state representatives are allowed under Missouri law to complete four two-year terms for a maximum of eight years in office.
"I am announcing my final run for reelection to finish the mission I started all those years ago," Seitz said in the release. "Anyone who has spent any time in the Capitol knows that the key piece of being able to accomplish anything is having strong relationships with your fellow legislators. I have spent the last five years building those relationships, and that has paid off time after time as I have been able to pass good legislation that benefits our area."
Seitz, who is currently chair of the House Special Committee on Tourism and a member of the Commerce, Crime and Public Safety and Veterans and Armed Forces committees, pointed in the release to recent work on HJR 73 related to reinstatement of an abortion ban in the state, the so-called Trey's Law designed to prohibit the use of nondisclosure agreements in child sexual abuse cases and a measure that recognizes Branson as the "Live Entertainment Capital of Missouri."
Missouri Ethics Commission records currently do not show any candidates registered for the Aug. 4, 2026, primary.
