More than 140 artists from across the country are signed up to participate in Artsfest this weekend along Historic Walnut Street in downtown Springfield.

The 28th annual event will be 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Sunday.

Artists will display their work in booths along the street. Their media include clay, drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, painting, photography and printmaking.

Other festival highlights this year include:

• Five performance stages with scheduled shows;

• Art Gardens, featuring rain barrels and art gardens designed by local and regional art students and organizations using recycled materials;

• Art-Town Downtown, offering hands-on activities for kids;

• A chance to win $500 in Artsfest Art Bucks by voting for a favorite Artsfest artist on Saturday; and

• “An Evening at Artsfest,” a free Springfield Symphony concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Jordan Valley Park.

Tickets are $3 if purchased in advance at McDonald’s restaurants by today, or $5 at the gate. Children 10 and under are admitted free.

More Artsfest information, including a map and performance schedules, is available at www.springfieldarts.org.[[In-content Ad]]
