Streaming service Disney+ had 28.6 million subscribers as of Feb. 3.
Analysts were expecting the company's fiscal first quarter subscriber growth to be in the 20 million to 25 million range.
"The Mandalorian," an original series on the platform, has "exceeded even our greatest expectations," said Disney CEO Bob Iger. The show is scheduled to return in October for a second season.
