Disability inclusion workshop to be held for employers

Posted online

Business owners and human resource leaders are the targeted audience for a June 7 workshop planned by nonprofit Imagine Technical Institute.

Disability inclusion in the workplace is the focus of the event scheduled from 9-11 a.m. at SRC Electrical LLC, 2401 E. Sunshine St., a subsidiary of SRC Holdings Corp., according to a news release.

The workshop will highlight how businesses can benefit from incorporating adults with disabilities as employees. Attendees will learn insights and best practices for implementing disability inclusion strategies within their organizations.

“Disability inclusion is not only a moral imperative but also a strategic business decision,” said ITI Chief Program Officer Matt Jannings, in the release. “By tapping into the vast talent pool of individuals with disabilities, businesses can enhance productivity, team engagement and overall workplace satisfaction.”

Workshop participants will hear from business representatives who have successfully launched inclusive hiring programs. Ken Talley, project manager with commercial refrigeration manufacturer True Manufacturing Co. Inc. in O’Fallon, and Kevin Thompson, chief financial officer with Chesterfield-based manufacturer Cambridge Air Solutions, are among those scheduled to speak at the event.

Attendance at the workshop is free, but registration is required. Those interested can register at Eventbrite.com.

Imagine Technical Institute is a vocational training and employment services provider for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in southwest Missouri. It opened a Hollister office late last year and is a satellite location of St. Joseph-based Boone Center Inc., another nonprofit that serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
