Diane Sawyer ends five-year run as ABC's 'World News' anchor

Diane Sawyer signed off from ABC’s “World News” on Wednesday, ending a five-year run as one of the nation’s most watched anchors.

"It has been wonderful to be the home port for the brave and brilliant forces of ABC News around the world and to feel every single night that you and I were in a conversation about the day together," she said.

The 68-year-old will be replaced next week by David Muir, according to the Associated Press.

Sawyer isn't retiring and plans to continue to report for the network, according to the report.
