The contractor was selected by the Branson Regional Transportation Development District board of directors; other bids came from Walton Construction Co. and Larry Snyder & Co., according to a Branson Airport news release. DeWitt’s past aviation projects include a five-tenant hangar facility for Mid-America Dairymen, and the fire station and addition to Hangar B at the Springfield Municipal Airport, the release said.
DeWitt’s contract is for $9.8 million – more than 10 percent below the project’s $11 million estimate – and construction should begin later this month. Click here for a larger view of the rendering.
The terminal will serve up to 1.4 million passengers annually and have positions for five aircraft, with the ability to eventually accommodate up to 10 737-size planes, according to the release. Features include a welcome center, passenger ticketing area, screening checkpoint, baggage claim area, rental car counter, LCD display screens, in-line baggage system, self-service kiosks, curbside service, concessions, gift and news shop, and restaurant.
The terminal also will house the airport’s administrative offices and communications center. An Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting garage/storage area will be connected.
The privately financed and operated airport is located within the 8,000-acre Branson Creek development and is slated for a May 9, 2009, opening. No airline announcements have been made yet.
Since breaking ground on the airport last July, crews have moved more than 11 million cubic yards of earth, according to the release. They began pouring concrete for the main 7,140-foot-by-150-foot runway in April. The runway, taxiway, ramp, fixed-base operation ramp and blast pads should be complete this summer.[[In-content Ad]]
