Devon to buy WPX Energy for $2.6B

Oklahoma City-based Devon Energy agreed to buy Tulsa-based WPX Energy for nearly $2.6 billion.

Under the deal scheduled to close in first quarter 2021, Devon would be the surviving name of the combined entity.

Devon shareholders would own about 57% of the combined company, with WPS shareholders taking 43%.
