Developmental Center names new executive director

Posted online

Developmental Center of the Ozarks promoted an 11-year staffer to succeed the nonprofit’s retiring 33-year executive director.

The DCO Board of Directors selected Marisa DeClue, the nonprofit's development and public relations director, to take the top job on June 8. She's slated to succeed longtime Executive Director Allan McKelvy, who's retiring June 7, according to statement provided by board President Dr. Jeffrey Johnson.

Johnson applauded McKelvy's "33-year successful career with the Developmental Center of the Ozarks.”

DeClue will lead a nonprofit with an operational budget of $5.7 million and around 130 employees, she said via email this morning.

The board asked for internal candidates in February, when McKelvy announced his retirement, DeClue said. She was unsure how many candidates applied.

DCO annually assists more than 1,100 clients with developmental disabilities and delays in southwest Missouri, according to its website. Founded in 1954, the nonprofit's services include therapy, education and employment aid for clients from birth through adulthood.
