John L. Morris, president and founder of Bass Pro Shops, was awarded the Developer of the Year Award by the Springfield Contractors Association at its annual Salute to Design & Construction Awards Banquet. The banquet is the highlight of Salute to Design & Construction Week, which was Oct. 26-Nov. 3. Randy Hawkins, president of the Springfield Contractors Association, presented Morris with the award. "We are all very lucky to live in such a special part of the world as the Ozarks. ... The work that you craftsmen do reminds us of the extraordinary work the people here in this area do. I share this award with the people in our company with a great deal of pride," Morris said. Jim Anderson, president of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and co-master of ceremonies for the event, said of Morris, "Here is a man who has literally put Springfield, Missouri, on the map. Wherever you go, people know Springfield as the home of Bass Pro Shops."
