Developer files suit over long-delayed Bass Pro-anchored retail project

Posted online
The developer of the Sweetwater retail project in Limestone County, Ala., filed a $60 million lawsuit on Thursday alleging fraudulent dealings by the property owner.

Filed by Nashville-based developer Genesis USA Development LLC, the suit claims the owner of the more than 500 acres, Birmingham attorney Samuel Frazier, inflated the value of the land and intended to break off negotiations with Genesis after the land value had increased, according to AL.com.

Bass Pro Shops is slated to serve as anchor tenant at the development, which also would include hotels, restaurants and other retail shops. Bass Pro is not named in the suit.
