Despite complaints, Amazon sales soar 80% on Prime Day

Amazon customers may not have been happy about Amazon's "Prime Day" sales, but they sure were buying a whole lot from the site.

U.S. sales jumped 80 percent by mid-day Wednesday, while European sales grew 40 percent, according to CNNMoney.

Many took to social media to complain about the sale, saying it was a glorified online garage sale and that products were difficult to purchase because they sold out so quickly.
