The Trump administration announced the Department of Health and Human Services would cut 10,000 jobs and close half of its 10 regional offices.
Including those have taken early retirement or a buyout offer, the size of the department's workforce will have dropped to 62,000 from 82,000 since President Donald Trump took office.
“We aren’t just reducing bureaucratic sprawl. We are realigning the organization with its core mission and our new priorities in reversing the chronic disease epidemic,” HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said. “This department will do more – a lot more – at a lower cost to the taxpayer.”
